Z homing?

I was checking motor directions after assembling my MPCNC and noticed that when homing Z, the axis raises up and keeps going past the end of the leadscrew until it times out. Is that normal?

For the Primo yes. There is no limit switch for homing on Z. You will used the touch plate (if you have one) to set Z at the start of a job.

So is there any point in $HZ ? should I be using $HXY only? prior to setting/probing work offsets (i.e. G54)?

I believe @vicious1 took out the Z homing for the home all button for the Primo’s. I usually home then move to where I want XY 0 to be. Then the probing stuff is in my start gcode so I probe the top of the material and that sets Z 0. XY 0 is also in the start gcode. Should be all on the milling basics page where you copy the start, end and tool change gcode from.

Ok then I will just not home Z. I just didn’t know if it needed to be homed or not before probing/moving. Thank you for the help!
