Z-axis probleme

Hello everyone, I’m back again. My LR4 is finished building, but I’m having a problem with my Z-axis. The X and Y axes are fine.

I think my lead screws are faulty. I ordered 2mm T8 lead screws from AliExpress, but when I move the Z-axis by 1mm, it only moves 0.2mm.
So I tried changing the step size from 200 to 1000 steps, but I still can’t get it to work properly. Should I order new lead screws? Thank you for your help.

I use jackpot

Remove the stub bolt for one thing.

Wooden XZ plates is not ideal either :eyes:

If you don’t want to order aluminium plates from the USA there is an EU reseller available. Shop – HaWiWe

I suspect you may need to lower your max Z speed with a higher thread pitch.

Thanks for the link.

Okay, I’ll remove the screw. And I’ll test it again.

The pitch might be 2mm, but maybe it’s only a 1-start leadscrew, not a 4-start one? Can you check how many “starting points” it has at the top?

That shop is me, my producer just told me they might be shipping my plates this week, then I have to drill holes so I hope I’ll have some ready by the weekend again.

Yes its a only 1 start

Can I use this one or should I order a 4-starter?

Thanks you

Order 4 start. The operating speed will be faster. Assembly and maintenance will be easier.

I say this as someone who briefly tried assembling with 2 start, but abandoned that out of frustration and went back to recommended stock 4 start lead screws.

Would explicit mention in doc have helped you?

I didn’t know there were multiple versions of the lead screw.

My problem is how to be sure I’ll receive a lead screw with 4 starters. Can someone give me an AliExpress link?

Thanks for your help.

@Dreyfus Should this screw always be removed in any case on both sides?

Kind of, yeah. Or only set very loosely. Gravity will keep the beam down.
