Hi new LR4 build. A few troubleshooting questions…
When jogging the z axis upwards, the gantry will blow through the limit switches. Is that normal? I would have assumed that the gantry would stop when the limit switches are hit even if manually jogged… Gantry seems to home normally so limit both switches are working.
Also, regarding z axis jack screws, x min side moves smoothly. X max side jack screw has a noticeable wobble and will jam close to z min. Wondering what I should look for to address the wobble? I did lubricate the jack screws which helped reduce jamming. X max side still jams also at z min. It’s much better than before but the wobble is still present.
Thanks!
Limit switches are only active while homing each axis. If your Z is binding at min you might want to check the cross bolt in the z-stub it says in the instructions to leave it loose. I know some people don’t run a screw in them at all.
You dont have to move the z axis by 100-300mm lol. Limit switches are only active when homing.
You could edit your max travel of your z axis and avoid mistakes but it needs some knowledge and you to be comfortable with editing your configs
I never call for more than 30mm of z axis travel upwards. Bit changes occur outside the working area of the cnc (in my case) x0 y-50 -my tables are built with that space in mind and my pulloff for the y motors set
Loosening the screws helped. No more jamming at zmin. I still have jack screw wobble on the xmax side. I think I will remove the jackscrew and coupler from the motor and reinstall. Maybe it got put together crooked somehow. Thanks for your help.
