Yellow Machine

Great that you’re running!

two reliability notes-

  • those barrel connectors can be unreliable. That’s why re recommend cutting them off.
  • Different size stranded wire in a screw compression terminal block is a recipe for a loose connection. That can cause unreliable operation or even arcing. We recommend putting the two different size wires into a crimp ferrule and landing that in the connector

I will probably follow your advice once I get the struts made and a table made. Just trying to get it running at the moment.

Any advice on the touch plate? I was able to crimp the connection on the plate but I am confused on the clamp. What’s the little rod in the clamp doing? Almost looks like its on the screw somehow? How is the clamp hanging in this picture I got from the website?

It’s a magnet. Just stick it to the collet nut when you probe.

Any reason it goes out the back of the core and not up with the other wires?

There is a channel in the core for the probe wires. It routes through the core from the stepper motor, behind the router out a hole on the YMAX side (right side).

To keep the wiring clean. You don’t have to run it that way, you can run it around the back of the router and up with the rest of the wires. But it does look a lot cleaner when you go through the core.

Thank you! I went back and saw that in the instructions.

Then I realized I do not have an extension for it. So waiting on that now.

I made up a custom insert so it screws into my 2.5” hose and press fits onto the dust shoe. Also remade the skirt so it doesnt fall off the bottom.

I haven’t had a single failure of the stock skirt coming off the bottom on my personal machine. And no reports of it on any of my customer machines either.

Can you post a link to where you got the files on makerworld?

Please don’t take it as a complaint because I am very very thankful for everyone’s designs and help! I am blow away that I get to make this machine for next to nothing and everyone is so helpful!

On mine, if I barely touch it, it pops off. I have not ran my machine yet but I added a millimeter to the little lip and it helped a lot. I can share the file if you want to see. I don’t remember what site I got it from.

No complaints taken at all! I only asked for where you got the files from because you are having issues we don’t usually see. I know farther up you said you got them from Bambu, so I assume MakerWorld. If someone put out some files that they adjusted to fit their particular needs it would be good to know so we can warn others so they don’t have these issues.

The dust shoe when handling it off of the core can seem like the skirt is very easy to knock off. But in actual use it is quite secure. Nothing at all wrong with what you adjusted and I hope it works well for you! I was not at all trying to come off like you are making changes you shouldn’t. You are free to make any changes you see fit.

Maybe it will move today

So I was checking my steps per millimeter for the y axis. It went 2396mm not 2400. So I updated the steps per mm from 50 to 50.077. Saved and hit restart board.

After restart all the settings are changed and it won’t let me home any axis.

Did I do something wrong?

Did you run the save config macro or just hit the save button where you made the change? If you didn’t run the save config that would explain why your settings changed but not why you cant home any axis. Is the controller in idle state or is there an alarm?

I think I just hit save. I dont even see q save config button.

There is a hold right now. When I go to unlock it I get an alarm

Are you using V2 or V3 Webui?

If its V3 you should see this screen. Save macro is highlighted off to the right side of the pic

the hold is why you cant home or anything. in the terminal type $X and it should clear the alarm
