I’m in an odd issue here. My X1 stepper is grinding occasionally during normal movements and refuses to move at all when homing. The occasional grinding occurs in both touch and Marlin mode. It doesn’t matter if I move it in certain increments or distances from 0. It does move in the correct direction.
I’ve killed the power and moved the gantry manually to positions both near the endstops and at the far end of the machine - it occurs on both ends.
After powering down the system, swap X motor connections at the controller and see if the issue moves to the other motor. If it does, there’s a controller/driver issue. If it doesn’t, then check the wiring out to X1 for intermittent shorts, or (very rare) there may be an issue with the motor iteself.
The issue swaps when I swap the motors, but I think it may be the endstop at fault. The X light is lit at all times even when the endstop is not triggered. The Y and E1 lights are behaving normally, as is E0.
I have all four endstops wired identically - signal to NC, ground to ground. I’ve got continuity when I test the endstop in question - when it’s untriggered it’s closed, when it’s triggered it’s open.
I’m running it through nylon braid and have electrical taped where the wires connect to plugs that extend them. It seems like the board is stuck with the endstop triggered.
Edit: it was the electrical taped connection. Darn thing didn’t hold, and the X endstop Molex connector came out. I’m just gonna solder it to a wire rather than try to get these Dupont connectors to stay connected to each other.
