Highly unlikely that the motor is dead. Very good possibility that you have a wiring issue somewhere. Check your connection where it hooks to the extension cable. That seems to have the most issues for people. But also check at the board as well. Make sure you have the connection from the motor to the extension folded back and taped like Ryan shows in the docs.

had checked that , before posting took of old tape , unplugged the connection re plugged in and re taped still nothing :(…

Did you check the connection at the board? And the wire everywhere in between?

yip checked all those , just tried moving x while running hand along wire no where near plugs , than it started to move, must be break mid wire some where , better order some new cables i guess

Does the motor lock when you power up the jackpot?

Does it make any kind of noise when you try to move the motor?

it wasnt locking motor , or noise at motor

the break is between motor and plug

you cant unplug wire from motor can you ?

guess be easier to get new stepper motor, than trying find break in wire and repair

If its a V1 motor, no you cant easily unplug the motor. If the break is in the motor wire then it might be eaiser to get a new motor, or if the break is in the extension cable then thats even easier.

Also check the dupont connectors closely and make sure you didnt have a pin push out.

Its odd that you have no power at all to the motor. That means you have multiple wires broken or another problem. If it was just one wire broken then you would still have power to the other coil and it would make a grinding noise when you tried to move it most likely.

yeah v1 motor , think break is where its secured to top of router housing,

just googled the nema17 steeper’s locally in nz , would it mater if they are 2.5A and not 2A as the link in the v4 parts show

as cant find a 2A in NZ

No that wont matter at all. As long as the holding torque is the same or close you will be good.

bit more searching and this one seems to match

cheers for ur help

No problem. Hopefully that gets you fixed up!

I think its my ducting hose that’s prob caused it, as mine is suspended from ceiling and is connected at top of housing where the wires run, best i re route ducting

It works a lot better running it along the beam, then it acts as a cable chain for the wires as well. Mine runs like that then off the side of the table and up to the celling to connect to the dust collection piping

I tried that , the wires and ducting just wouldn’t flow together , tried multiple ways , they just fought each other and twisted all the time, did my head in, i have cable system on ceiling down middle of table so ducting runs freely , just need make clamp instead of cable ties in top of housing squashing cables

It can be a pain but it does work. Sounds like you have a good idea. Hopefully the new motor fixes your woes
