So everything was working fine. Installed a fluid dial, was still working. But now my x stepper will stutter or move just a bit or try to home, get to the end, then panic, then die. It always becomes unresponsive in every case. Is my stepper motor dying/dead? Or am I missing something easy?
Stepper motors are very simple and fail rarely - though it’s always possible.
Far more likely is the problem is in the wiring. Check the plugs, pins and extension connections in particular.

Test your end stop wiring with $Limits
If you don’t find an endstop issue then we need to see either a fluidterm log of the panic or the $SS
from after.
You nailed it! The extension connection was coming loose. It was the one extension that I didnt roll and tape over itself so it was coming loose. Thanks!

It’s always the one that you didn’t do that comes back to bite you!
