Super classy! Took me a minute to realize it was rotated a bit in the bottom picture. Why IIII for 4 instead of IV?

Taking over the gallery!!! I love this, I have an affinity for clocks.
Early roman numericals used IIII and VIIII.
Most watchmakers use IIII and IX.
But why use IX then?
I think the most logical explanation is looks.
This way the face is divided in to 3 even parts:
Only I: I II III IIII
Only V: V VI VII VIII
Only X: IX X XI XII
