What's the one upgrade you wish you'd done sooner?

I’m looking at my machine and thinking about what to improve next. For those of you who’ve been running a LowRider or MPCNC for a while, what’s the single upgrade that made the biggest difference for you? Was it dust collection, a better spindle, cable management, or something else entirely? I’d love to hear what paid off most.

Doing Dust collection right off the bat on my LR4 is easily the biggest most worthwhile upgrade compared to my 10 year old MPCNC (other than just upgrading from a 10 year old machine!)

Next would be upgrading from a dewalt trim tool (suggested at the time I built the machine) to a carbide er-11 router. Having built in speed control and the ER-11 collet is a lot nicer than the old trim tool I was using.

I actually have less cable management on the LR4 than I did on the MPCNC…the LR4 just doesn’t really need it like the old MPCNC did.

I’d like to step up to the autospin T1 next. But I’ll probably wire up a SSR to at least turn the Carbide on and off next…I’ve had one sitting here for 10 years so it’s about time I get around to wiring it in

IMHO proper dust collection shouldn’t be an afterthought - I learned quick on the MPCNC that something was needed as letting chips build up could cause problems. But I just lived with holding a vacuum hose a few inches from the router as it ran for a long time. With the LR4 the dust shoe was already a proven design and ready to go so I went with it right from the start and it makes life so much easier. Well, except for the time I got the ports on my vacuum mixed up and hooked my cyclone to the exhaust…but the less said about that the better  (For the record it did keep the cuts clean…but made a huge mess of everything else!)
