What's the most popular/common router/spindle to use?

First time post. Be gentle with me. I’m thinking of building an MPCNC and just wondering what router/spindle is the best to use? What are most people using? Thanks.

I will admit to buying a makita clone off Amazon which worked for a while, till it died in the middle of a carve.

Having replaced it with a proper makita I can tell you;
The power cord is much longer and better quality with good flex
It’s significantly quieter

Makita RT0702C here which has worked out great. I had a cheap AliExpress 500W spindle before and it was mostly garbage.

I’m planning to pick up a Vevor Spindle to have a play with. Their palm routers look good as well, although I don’t like the collet setup as much as the Makita.

Key thing is probably easy access to 1/8" collets.

I bought an 800W Vevor router, seems pretty good, comes with all accessories, and you can also buy an 800W with just a basic plate.
They fit standard 65mm brackets, and you can fit ER11 collets 3.5mm, for 1/8” bits, apart from the ones they come with.

I plan on buying the 2nd one as a backup, and then can also use it in the other accessories as a hand unit. Happy days!

I forgot to say- took a while to come from Queensland to Perth- about 2 weeks.

I use the dewalt 660. Works well. The only issue I’ve had with it were the brushes would hang up and not advance with wear. Happened two times where the router would cut-out during a project. Hasn’t happened since though.
It comes with both 1/8" & 1/4" collets

I have the dw660. There are times I wish I had selectable speed on it, as with the palm routers, makita, etc recommended on the forum. The dw660 gets the job done though and is lightweight.

Welcome and have fun!

I use a Makita RT0700C I got of FB Marketplace for cheap.
It’s a 1/4" collet but you can buy the 1/8" from Ryan or from AdamsBits who is in Aus.

Correct me if I am wrong but I believe having the speed control is ideal. All the ppl in here have made mounts for pretty much everyone.
I have some knock off roto zip that fit in the 65mm mount.
And welcome to the forum it’s not like most other forums etc. everyone is very nice and no shame shame just progress from what I have noticed.
