Doing my first cuts with my rebuild primo - setting up the spoilboard. I made a sketch in F360 of everything I want to cut out, exported a .dxf, opened that in Estlcam and set up all my toolpaths, and generated the gcode. When I generated the code, it asked me what the units for movement were. I used mm/sec since that’s what I had the tools set up with in Estlcam, but when I did a test run of the program on the MPCNC, it’s running really slow. Does it use mm/min instead?
The version of Marlin maintained by V1 only supports mm/min. Inch support is available in Marlin, but requires reflashing the board. I don’t use EstlCAM, but I believe it should be setup this way:
Thanks! I went ahead and generated a file with mm/min and it looked more reasonable when I did a test run on the machine. It’s cutting now.
And yes - those are the settings I used. Thanks again!
FYI, Jamie (@jamiek) made a simple site that can make surfacing patterns:
Excellent timing, Jeff! That’s up next! Just finished the top board (117 holes), and now drilling out the bottom board. Once I get the threaded inserts in, top board goes back on, and I’ll be ready for flattening. Unfortunately, heading out of town for a few days so it’ll be later in the week before I get to the flattening part, I think. But thanks for that link!
