What brain to buy (UK)

I am churning through the hardware side of a MPCNC which is going to be used for running a plasma cutter

The idea is to have the MPCNC as a learning experience before a build a full sized CNC plasma

My knowledge of the electronics side is basically sod all

So what would be a good control board to start with that is easy to use and might be useful for when i build a full sized machine

I’m UK based so any links to UK retailers would be excellent

I’m starting to build my MPCNC as well, and I settled on a Ramps / Arduino Mega combo.

There are lots of them available on Amazon.co.uk, I bought my kit from Wish tho.

I’m using an SKR V1.3. However the other boards are better supported (IMHO).

I would suggest that if you are buying UART stepper drivers you check carefully before you buy and make sure you buy the right ones. If you only want TMC2208 non-uart stepper drivers, I have a great UK deal for you. Less than a week old and only been used for five mins :blush:

Whatever you get, be sure to put it all in a metal box, and shield all of your wiring! Unless you have a unicorn of a torch, it’ll be noisy enough to fry your control board unless it’s hiding behind a Faraday cage…
