What are O Flute bits?

I was looking for a 1/4in single flute bit online and in stores and it seems 2-flutes are much more popular. The only single flute one’s I have found are “O” flute. Some of these like this one Amazon.com or SpeTool O Flute CNC Router Bit 1/4 Inch Shank 1 Inch Cutting Length with Extra Long Life Coating Single Flute End Mill for Acrylic Aluminum Wood Cut - Amazon.com seem to be targeted toward aluminum and/or plastic cutting. I have checked IDC, Bits and bits and amazon. I know V1E carries one, but I am looking for one with a 1" cut depth. Are the O flutes the same or similar enough to a single flute bit?

O flute = Single Flute. That’s always been my understanding anyways.

Somehow it is a special more open single flute, but basically it is a single flute.

What kind of materials and projects are you looking to work with?

Single flute upcut will clear chips more aggressively than Single flute upcut O-flute. O-flute will be nice for smooth pockets, especially in plastic.

O flute means a spiral cutting bit really. They can cut mdf but a 1" lenght bit will deflect a lot.

I am looking at 1/4in bits. Do O bits deflect more? I guess if they are more open they might.

It is for cutting and pocketing hardwood. I have some 2 flute upcut bits but they make a horrific whining noise. From what I have read, this is probably due to slow feedrate, so that is why I am looking for a single flute. I need 25mm cut depth, but have not been able to find it.

On a 1/4 inch, i doubt
