I ordered the LR3 parts kit about 6 months ago. It came, I got underway, (US Navy) now that the LR4 is out, I’m getting started on the my 3. Colors are a mixed bag of what I have available. But eventually I’ll get them organized. As I do I’ll shift over, probably in time for the LR5 to come out, but that’s the way I seem to work best. I’m learning both 3D printing and CNC.
I bought a used Monoprice Maker select about 2 years ago and played around with it, I tried printing the core a few times, failed, printed a few of the smaller parts with success, then tried to print the core again, failed. I just recently upgraded from.the MP select to a CR-6 SE. it’s a nice machine, seems a little more forgiving too. I did just learn that the magnetic build plate has a specific orientation to the stick on magnet beneath it.
Any way. I’m working through a lot of the forum, figuring out how big and where to put it. And all the other important questions in life.
My goal is eventually to build a small sail boat made from sheet ply. I’d also like to do some decorative pieces, get into the wavy flag kind of things. I’ve also started making thoes cedar pumpkin lantern thigs you see on Pinterest. Cutting the faces out with a jigsaw is kind of a PITA. But they are fun to build with the kids. I’d like to let them draw the faces, slap it into the LR3 then get the kids involved building them. So goals. I’ve just gotta get through the learning curve before they start having grand kids.
