V1 Stepper Extension wires vs End Stop Switches

Just starting to build. Skipped CORE step because it’s still printing. I’m on step 1 and already hit an issue.

I ordered the Stepper Extension Wires from the V1 store. 3 because that’s what that page says the LRv4 requires.

I also ordered the limit switches per the parts list from Amazon.

  1. The wires say they are combined motor/limit switch wires. How can 5 steppers and 5 switches run off 3 wires? Is the info swapped? Do I need 2 more wires, and am I gonna have to eat another shipping charge?

  2. The wires are terminated at both ends in dupont style pin blocks, and the recommended limit switches are flat mini spade terminal type. How’s that meant to work?

Looking for some input from someone at V1 here.

Thank you
Eric Anderson

You only need the extension cables for the far X, Y, and Z. The closer X and Y you can just use the wires that come with the stepper.

You just need some other wires. When I bought my LR3 kit anyway (might come in LR4 kit), it included these:

Those wires I linked above. There’s not really anything special about them.

You can also just cut off the ends and solder them to the switches. When I upgrade to the LR4, that’s my plan.

Thanks for the quick turnaround.

I didn’t go with the kit, as I had a bunch of appropriate parts already. And I don’t see a callout in the shopping list for the extenders. I’ll see what I can find around my mad lab, but it might not be a bad idea to put a note on your list that these endstop plugs are handy for those who don’t have the facility to DIY some.

Thanks again. Onward…

Yea, the extender wires are mentioned but not those endstop plugs.

Turns out I have a dupont crimping kit. It’s not fun, but I have it.
