First time I’ve asked a question but I’ve been following the forum since just before the V3 came out.
After all theistime I’ve decided to build a version of the Zen XY with parts that I’ve had onhand for a number of years ( not V1 design)
I had some pullys I had gotten from amazon a number of years ago but they don’t turn very freely. As I tighten them down they either stop rotating or they feel like they constantly catch.
I have tried supporting them on both the outside part of the race as well as the inside race but they still either do not rotate or contnuously catch when tightened down.
Can anyone comment on the (smooth) pulleys that Ryan sells as to the quality of the bearings ?
Again this is a parts bin construction where the pulley is placed over a screw and then tightened with a nut. Thanks for any comments
I just got a few from Ryan yesterday, and had a few from Amazon as well that I’m using. They’re both the same and both spin VERY freely in the ZenXY parts. If it give them a flick with my finger they’ll freewheel for a few seconds.
Thanks… The ones I have turn freely if not tightened down but they certainly don’t spin. I guess I’ll be ordering some from Ryan… Since I’m new I don’t have a clue how to mark this as 'Solved"
I haven’t built a ZenXY yet, but so far I have built around 14 LR4’s all using Ryan’s parts and have not had a single issue with any of his bearings. You will be in good hands ordering from him!
Had couple of squeaky Idlers that was easily resolved with a quick spray of silicone or lithium grease, which I also use on the EMT where bearings contact. Since then, I preemptively give the Idlers a quick spray after initial assembly.
I don’t know what ABEC rating the bearings are. I also don’t 100% believe the ABEC ratings claimed on various AMZN bearings after trying a few when rebuilding an extruder recently.
Shouldn’t need much belt tension for ZenXY to function well.
