Using 28mm rails for LR4 Y-axis? (sourcing alternatives in Denmark)

Hi all,

I’m in the middle of gathering parts for an LR3 → LR4 upgrade, but I’m having a hard time finding rails in the recommended sizes here in Denmark.

The biggest challenge is the cost (and especially shipping) once the rails are over 2 meters long.

Since these dimensions aren’t standard here, local hardware stores and plumbing suppliers don’t carry them.

I did find some 30mm rails for the X-axis on Amazon, up to 2m long, at a reasonable price including shipping.

But that still leaves me stuck on the Y-axis.

My local plumber can source stainless steel tubing in 28mm and 35mm.

Would 28mm tubing be a workable option for the Y-axis if I remix the Y-clips to fit?

Thanks a lot for any input or experience you can share!

I shipped an LR4 to Italy and had the Y split into two parts. I created a printable connector for it, it’s working really great and has worked through ~35 sheets of laminated plywood without any problems.

I usually buy at jabimetal.at. Don’t know whether they ship to your place though.

Unfortunately, they do not deliver to Denmark.

If 28 mm rails cannot be used, or I am unable to source an alternative, a 3D-printed joint might be a feasible solution.
