Upgrading from mini rambo to jackpot2

hi all,

i just ordered a jackpot2 card and i was getting my mpcnc ready for the switch and noticed that i only have 1 x and 1 y socket. it’s been a long time since i wired this guy up :). i assume that i can plug this directly into the jackpot2 at x0 and y0 but since it has a and b as well, should i use them?

i should add that i don’t have homing (mini rambo) so the x and y steppers move in tandem, obviously. i’ve been fine with manually homing the axis before powering up the board by bring them to hard stops that put the machine square.

thanks and best,

-peter

I’m getting ready to convert my MPCNC Burly to the Jackpot from the Arduino Uno/CNC Shield controller. It sounds like the mini rambo has a lot of the same limitations as my current setup. My X and Y motors are wired in series with an adapter that crosses the loops so the motors move in tandem from a single motor driver, and I have one endstop switch each for X and Y at the minimum travel end. It is my intention to remove those adapters and run each motor off a separate driver on the Jackpot. This will allow for auto-squaring of the machine as part of the homing cycle, but I’ll need to add a second end stop switch to each of the X and Y axis (also at the minimum travel end) for that to work.
