Hi, here’s the updated design on my torsion box that swings out from the wall based on the comments I got here last time. I extended the length to 10 feet to give me some room to park the carriage and also save some work since the stock comes in 10 foot lengths.
Sides and interior slats would be 1/2" ultralight MDF and table size is 10 feet x 56 inches by 4 inches.
Top and bottom skins will be 1/4" ultralight MDF since I can’t get hardboard in 10 foot sizes.
Total weight of the table part will be 88 pounds. Supports are spaced 10 to 11 inches… they are the length of the table and slotted to fit together. I will do a small 1/8" dado along the edge pieces to help line everything up when gluing… no fasteners just clamped sides and weights on top.
The 2x4 support underneath adds another 17 pounds but I’m not comfortable with attaching the arms to the edges and it might give me the option of shimming the middle if it sags. Anyways… if you see any problems shout out… I will be ordering the material sometime this week.
