Two-colour Pencil Case - Satinwood and Red Heart

You know it already: I like to do pencil cases. I’ve come quite a way with those and now have a design that I really like. The problem: I get bored easily, so I try to come up with new challenges. This time I didn’t have time for an inlay, so I did a normal engraving.
The clou with this one is that the inner pocket is in another colour. So basically a large, straight inlay (so there was time for another kind of inlay at least) in the other wood. I used Red Heart to go for a velvet look (like, you know those chests that are lined with velvet on the inside and are, therefore, fancy?).

The top looks really dirty under the camera and artificial light. With the naked eye you can’t see it at all.

The text says: Without sun, you can’t really appreciate the rain.

See how that grain continues? That happens when you take care selecting the wood.

I didn’t do any sanding on this box besides the tabs. There are some minor chattermarks where the round part begins, but that’s about it. The cuts are that clean. And see how that inlay fits? 100%.

That fit and those red heart chips are awesome.

Talk to me about those Knipex pliers. I just recently learned of their existence and curious if they’re worth the price.

They are incredible! The jaws are always parallel to each other which makes them so good. Also, no “grip” so they don’t destroy pipes, wood, whatever.
