Is it just my feed or is there a huge surge in new custom CNC builds?
I don’t typically watch too many but I am seeing so many lately. So freaking cool to see all these new approaches.

Saw these two this morning,
Both very new. The John Heisz rebuild I posted in the “neat” thread must have sparked it. Now there are tons of recent plasma builds new home gamer CNC’s and these soon to market CNC’s.

Well, except of course he spends most of the video complaining about how much worse it is than real wood working and then just uses python to generate gcode after getting fed up with the CAM that came with the commercial machine he was given.
But…I’d expect no less from Matthias - which I mean as a compliment even though I’m much more likely to fire up the CNC myself than pull out hand tools 
I have’t been getting many new CNC builds overall though…despite recently adding a few more machining channels to my subscriptions after the toolroomtakeover thing.

Yeah, I am watching along. I have not seen the previous build in action but it seems this might be extreme. If his previous build just had bad runnout, or bad CAM or something. I can’t imagine this helping such a small build much.
I saw this one yesterday.
The base with no gantry or hardware is ~4400lbs

I got worn out making my MDF trim torsion box table yesterday!
I cannot even imagine this! Filled with concrete! Then weld the plates back on? OMG!

All my recent ‘recommended videos’ have been about boat building again.
Probably because I’ve been thinking about building another boat.

Is that the cause or the effect?
I googled the name of a company that sells boat plans. I’m sure it’s all related at this point. The other thing I keep getting videos for are VTOL drones for a similar reason. Oddly enough, the boat I want to build and the VTOL drone I’m considering are sadly really close in cost.
