The controller does not seem to have FluidNC installed

My lowrider v4 has been sitting unused for a few weeks lately. A week ago or so I turned it to to move the gantry to make some table space. Since then the machine was left on. Today I went to start a project on the lowrider but I couldn’t see “fluidnc” available in my wifi settings.

I did a bit of reading and tried a few troubleshooting steps. Left it off for an hour, turned back on still not found.

I should also note that when I usually give the machine power it makes a click/clunk sound. That sound was absent now but I could here a slight whine, not from the board I don’t think but maybe from a stepper.

I connected the Jackpot to my PC via USB and went to the fluidnc web installer. It finds the board and connects to it, then tells me:

The controller does not seem to have FluidNC installed, do you wish to install it?

I tried to reflash the board but have been stuck on:

Bootloader not active - Try holding down the BOOT switch

Holding down the boot switch is not working. Tried one second, two seconds 10 seconds 30 seconds etc etc.

I have tried it with the esp32 removed from the jackpot and same results.

Is my esp32 fried? Can I just order one from amazon overnight and try that? are all the esp32 boards the same or is there specific specs i need to look for? This is the one (actually a 3-pack) I was going to order: Amazon.ca link

Any other ideas or troubleshooting steps I should take?

Thanks in advance.

Interesting, the esp32 was on for a week? That shouldn’t have caused any issues but that is a new one. The steppers were also energized that whole time.

Make sure to expand the window that says to hold the boot button. When you hold it for 10 seconds or so a few extra lines should appear. On one of my browsers, it then takes just over 4 minutes to move to the next step.

See if that does anything for you.

You can also download the files directly and run them according to the instructions, Jackpot CNC Controller - V1 Engineering Documentation expand the section that says “more installing and update options”

If you do want to replace it get a genuine one, Amazon.com

Yeah, normally I shut it down when I am done with it but forgot. I have left it on overnight a few times without any issues in the past 6 months or so.

This is all I get:

Thanks will try this.

Also Is there any reason I shouldn’t order the ESP32-DevKitC-32UE rather than ESP32-DevKitC-32E

Slightly cheaper and arrives 2 days faster.

OK I have been able to get the board reflashed with 3.9.5, not sure if it was a driver or the USB cable because i changed both and it worked via the web installer.

edit: removed a bunch of errors i got as it was my own error. I hadn’t uploaded the config files from the jackpot github.
