TB 6600 stepper driver and board settings

Hi all,
I’m trying to fit TB6600’s to the two Nema23’s I have on my Z Axis (modified double deck Lowrider 2) these are wired to seperate drivers on an Octopus v1.0 (3.3v) board. I have wired it all up but I need to set the jumper on the board and don’t have the knowledge as to what to set the dippers or the jumpers to so they are the same as the original setup (I have been running the steppers off the drivers on the board) I have included pics from the octopus manual I just don’t know what it means by SLPand RST or ms1/0 ms2/1 or ms3/2 :man_shrugging:t2: or know what to set the micro step dippers on the driver too TIA Lee

The Octopus manual is not really going to help you there. You need to figure out how many steps your old drivers were configured at and how much voltage the Nema 23 need. The TB6600 itself have a table printed on them where you can then see which switches to flip.

The MS0/1 MS1/2 and MS2/3 jumpers are to tell the stepper driver what stepping mode to use by setting those pins high or low.

A4988 calls them MS1, MS2, MS3, and the DRV8825 uses the same pins and calls them M0, M1, and M2. In both cases they are used to set up 1/16th or 1/32nd microstep mode but the lookup table is different. These are helpful references:

In both cases you can get the drivers operating by connecting RST and SLP to each other, and that is also allowed by the leftmost jumper in the lower position.

These jumpers don’t matter for you, since you will use only step, dir, and enable output pins, and you set the microstepping using the dip switches on the TB6600 driver itself. If you put jumpers or don’t put jumpers, it won’t matter. Instead, you’ll need to make sure the microsteps in your firmware matches the microstepping mode set by your dip switches on the TB6600.

Hi Jamie, thanks for the response that’s really helpful will go back and continue the upgrade and see how I go on although I looked at that page from the manual a number of times I assumed the appendix it mentioned was the table at the bottom I just found the actual appendix and it makes much more sense now :man_facepalming:
