Supports

So I’m going to be building the Primo and (against suggestions) I want to go big with a printing area able to handle a full 4’ x 8’ sheet of plywood. I know I’m going to need supports for the long sides at the very least, but does anyone have the .STL files to print those supports?

I think this is the stl: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1160962 .

I don’t think I’ve seen a primo 4’x8’. I really haven’t seen one since the Low Rider was created.

There is at least one additional mid-span support on Thingiverse beyond the one Jeff references. In addition there are corner braces on Thingiverse that might be helpful in a rig of this size: One, Two, Three. I created my own supports for my Burly…just 'cause I could, not because there was anything wrong with the ones on Thingiverse. It uses 1/4-20 threaded rod, nuts and washers. A 1/4 dowel is used for positioning the nut trap, and it was designed for conduit. Files attached including the .STEP files.MPCNCMidSpanSupport.zip (593.4 KB)

Everyone builds LowRiders for stock this big, so I’d be interested in hearing about how well your Primo works at this size.

Yeah. I suspect problems, and I don’t want to encourage that. But I am curious to see exactly how this ends up. The last 4’x8’ MPCNC build I remember was probably before the 525 version and I don’t remember it working well. But this is 3 versions later, so I am curious.
