Do the PCBs in the kit come populated or do they have to be assembled?
Have/Would you consider selling compass kits that only include a subset of components? I (and I’m sure I’m not the only one) have tons of common parts like GT2 belts, pulleys, power supplies, wire, fasteners, etc., left over from buying bulk for previous projects. It would be nice to have a couple of subkits like a machined parts kit, a PCB kit, etc, so that we can use up/source our own common bits and pieces, but get the unique stuff from you.
Hey Eric, I’m planning on adding an electronics subkit soon. I also recently added a PCB subkit and the baseplate to the store.
As of right now, the PCBs come mostly assembled, with the sensor chips being the only exception. I am working on figuring out a way to get those pre-soldered as well.
I thought either you are reallllly fast, or I look like an idiot.
I don’t mind soldering the sensors. Mostly didn’t want to have to involve JLCPCB or Xometry, etc.
It actually looks like your mini kits are exactly what I was looking for. Maybe they weren’t posted yet when I first perused the compass webpage. I’ve been spending most time on github since then, looking at the BOM and such.
