Stool

@ethransom is in town: so not only have we organized the workshop, but I also need to prove I can actually build something with the Lowrider!

He pointed out pretty quickly I had nowhere to sit in the workshop and a lot of scrap wood. After a couple hours in Fusion we had a nice design:

And then time to cut! Pretty quickly, I realized I’d forgotten to put tabs on some critical pieces. Rather than do the “right” thing and go back upstairs to amend my drawing, I downloaded the GCode and added some strategic M0 instructions to let me fish out the interior pieces and then continue the cut.

Time to write myself a note on the table – if I have to run the same cut over and over, best to start from the same place!

2 hours later, it looks just like the model! A bit wobbly: should have included a cross-brace. I’m hoping gluing makes it steadier. In any case, it’s just for the shop, and I’m quite happy with it!

A very nice chair but is it stable enough in left right direction?

Not as much as I like. I should have included a cross brace below the seat, but I’ll try and find a way to stabilize it enough without that.

Looks really nice! What bit did you use? And what settings in Estlcam?

Is it 16 mm plywood?

If you put it in the front or back only it doubles as a storage. You can just include a can holder. :slightly_smiling_face:

A piece across the back should keep us circumferencely challenged people safe:person_shrugging:

Heck yeah, chairs are deceptively hard to do. After whatever you use for a brace I think that chair will stick around a long time. I really like it.
