Stepper motor size

Hi… im wanting to build a low rider 4 to upgrade my low rider 2… just have a question on the size steeper motors you can use… what is the actual size motor that fits into the motor mounts?.
As i have 2 different size motors

They’re NEMA 17s so they’re 42mm x 42mm. The recommended motors are 84 oz/in and are 48mm long. The BOM also mentions having a 20+ mm shaft length.

All V1 machines use NEMA 17 motors.

So one is 2mm to small, and the other far to big… bugger…

Thanks…

I don’t think being 2mm short is actually an issue. When I measured the ones on my LR3 which should work on the LR4, they were 47 mm long.

Ill add that the only ones where being too short really seems to matter are the ones with the 6 pin socket on the motor for the wiring harness. The ones with the wires hanging out of the motor casing (like the vast majority that I have) are OK with being a bit short.

Maybe a couple MM tall would work too, with caveats of installation might take some creativity.

I wonder if im able to edit the files to allow the taller motors… only reason i got them was because of all the extra weight i had put on the LR2…

Use the taller motor on the X axis, and the sort ones for Y and Z everything will be fine.
