I tried it out last night and it cut this semi warped piece of pine without any issues at all. However it did leave a small line in between its tooling paths. I was able to sand it out with some 220 though. Was wondering if its possible to get a better finish?
Just curious what is the suggested stepover rate for a fly cut pocket toolpath? Im at 50% now.
You’ll have to play with it. 50% is a good start though. I have a similar cutter with swappable inserts. Just looked at my settings, I’m running at 50% with a .2mm Z depth of cut. This is for resurfacing my spoil board though. You’ll probably always get some lines. The machine has to be perfect to not get them, and that’s pretty much impossible to do. If you can sand them out with 220, I wouldn’t try to make it better, might make it worse.
Yeah its not terrible actually it seems to clean up with 220ish grit. Im doing around 1mm docs in a single pass on it. I might try bumping it down to 48% but maybe that will just give me more lines lol.
