Stainless Tubes in Canada

I’ve been trying to source stainless tubing in Canada and most quotes are in the $C18 a foot range for 1" 0.065 304. The specifications page has the cost of stainless at ~$US43 for 20 feet. Am I getting quotes on the wrong stuff?

From my reading it sounds like everyone is using Galvanized or Zinc coated Steel Electrical Metallic Tubing - EMT. Which is ~USD $20 for 20 ft.

I didn’t really look at the $/foot but $18/foot sounds high. My drop table used the thick walled stuff and it’s about 25’ of tube. There’s no way I spent over $200 on the tube. There’s a thread in here somewhere (maybe in my drop table build thread) where I listed the quote. I feel like it was $170? The laser build was about $130 for a few feet less. I got mine from Metal Supermarkets.

Thank you, I just found your post with the quote (then entered the rabbit hole of your builds). I’ll drop into Metal Supermarkets here in Calgary and order the Ornamental stuff. Does it measure out to 25.4mm OD?

Metal Supermarkets gave me some very strange quotes when I inquired on-line. I asked for 1" but all the quotes were for 0.875, and the thinner stuff was more expensive.

For those that end up here looking for specifics:

Item: STR304O180/1065 Stainless Round Tube 304 Ornamental 180 Grit 1.000 x 0.065 comes in at about $C5.70/ft.

I just measured both. The thick walled stuff is 25.45mm OD, 19.25mm ID and the thin walled stuff is 25.45mm OD, 21.5mm ID. Plus/minus .05mm

The stuff I got was/is a satin finish, not a high gloss stainless. Not sure if that’s the same they are showing you. A few years back I was looking for polished stainless for our sailboat but couldn’t find it. This was the best I could find local and easy.
