Stainless steel tube just to small

Hello again guys.

So cannot find 32mm stainless steel tube, best i can get is 31.8 mm, do you guys think this will work?

Also, has anyone on here tried to build the LR4 with rails on both Y axis?

If so, did it add any more rigidity?
I am finding, for some reason that my non rail side is wobbling, leading to the plate sometimes not making connection with the end stop.

Any advice would be appreciated, as i am heading back to the drawing board while waiting for my jackpot to arrive

Regards
Wilem

No, LR4 (and LR3 before it) uses only a singly Y rail to avoid being overconstrained.
A 2nd rail would make the design problem much worse for a DIY machine.

If your non-rail Y is wobbling, there’s something wrong.
Are you trying to move it manualy or are you seeing it wobble when the belts are hooked up and the motors are on?

Seeing it with the belts attached.

I think the problem might be my XZ plates. I am currently trying to find 6mm alumenium that i can cut, but all the shops i looke at only sell full sheets

Belts attached, tensioned, and motors on?
As in when jogging under power you have visible wobble/crabbing/jumping?

What are you using for XZ plates currently?

Yea, tensioned and running.

I wouldnt way its wobbeling, its like the bottom tilts away so the ZY plate is not 90 degrees.

This in turn causes the end of the plate to run into the Y belt holder

I know this is sacralige, but my XZ plate is currently 3d printed.
I wanted to use it as a stopgap until i could mill it in alumenium, but now i cant find plate anyware

are you X beam tubes too long? You want them about 2 mm shorter than your actual beam so they can be inset about 1mm on each end.

If they are a little long that will cause the bottom to push out like you are describing

I am aware that i have that problem as well haha.

I am considering rebuilding the entire machine from scratch.

I have the SKR pro board at the moment, but i keep having trouble with the endstops, so i ordered the jackpot yesterday.

Looking to buy stainless steel tube as well, and ordered Carbon Fibre filament today so i can eliminate as many issues as possible

Ask if they have a “drops” bin. Most machine shops do, as does Metal Supermarket. You can usually pick up a suitably sized leftover cut for $10 or less (cash in hand helps).

Unfortunately i live in a 3rd world country, so we dont have all that many machine shops or metal supermarkets.

Although i have found a solution, buying a 150mm with 6mm thick aluminum flat bar

Still working on the stainless steel tube

You could also get the aluminum plates from the v1 shop, i did that and i have 3 working cnc but i prefer to avoid the hassle!

Skr board should not be the issue for your endstops problem. Recheck your wiring/solder before, do a manual test for the endstops activated position. Check your screen and see if it activates or not.

There are known issues with SKR Pro 1.2s, some batches are bad and some batches go bad, and some batches have been stable.
