Sourcing Tips - Germany

When planning my first CNC (LRv4), I find that shipping often accounts for a significant portion of the total costs. Are there any good LRv4 kit sources from within the EU?

Individual sourcing would be my last resort, with the only obstacle I see being the LRv4 custom components, specifically the XZ plates.

Example from the V1E shop (Hardware kit + XZ plates + small parts):

@Tokoloshe is your man for the XZ Plates in the EU!

Thanks Jonathan.

Now that the Jackpot 3 is available on Elecrow as well, sourcing everything yourself should be a lot easier, also with me selling the plates in the EU.

I don’t sell full kits because selling electronics in the EU is a pain, there are so many regulations that don’t matter for people outside the EU because no one is going to sue them. Me on the other hand would be in serious trouble. I have an idea though…

I am exactly looking for the same list of parts as I would like to upgrade my primo to a lowrider4. I already have a jackpot v1 which i bought from @arjannv who launched an EU grouped purchase a couple of years ago.

I would definitely be available for building such list (with the exception of alu plates for which a supplier is already identified)

EDIT

never mind, it works if you use the plain amazon website. i was trying on the Amazon app on my mobile phone

Everything you need can be found here with links that support Ryan

thank you!

when I try to use any of the amazon links, Amazon forces me to change country (my account is on Amazon France) and when i tell him to stay on the French store, it falls on the homepage. is there a way to convert these URLs keeping the sponsoring for Ryan?

Cristian

hmmm.. I’m not sure on that one. @vicious1 do you know of a way to do this?

@cber I am currently ordering basically the complete list from Germany. If helpful, I can share my list in an early stage build thread already.

oh yes please

thank you

it was an issue related to the use of the Amazon mobile application on my phone. When opening the link on the website, it opens directly in the right country (although some items are not available in the French Amazon store)

Cristian

The items it has a local equivalent it should go to that item, if there is no equivalent it just hits the home store.

Using the links still helps either way and is very much appreciated if you are self sourcing. That is as much as I can say without getting in trouble from that company for pushing the links too hard. They do help a lot, and it all adds up.

indeed, i asked to be sure to use the right links that sponsor your work.

Your plates are already in the post and should be there tomorrow or on Saturday. :slightly_smiling_face:

Question: Would it help if I offered everything but the steppers, pwer supply and Jackpot (electronics are a pain to sell because of EU regulations, not opening that can of worms)?
I am pretty sure I could source complete sets of screws so you don’t have to do the ordering. I’d need to look for a vendor for linear rails, leadscrews, belts and all the other stuff that is reputable… (and yes, I did talk to Ryan before).

@Tokoloshe Such a kit would be an enormous convenience in my view - even though for me it’s sadly too late for such a parts kit, as I’ve made it through 80% of the shopping list, hopefully without mistakes. I personally found the sourcing quite cumbersome, as with every component purchase there is always a risk that one chooses a slightly wrong variant (especially as most will not be experts in LR building when sourcing), which will to additional cost and, more importantly, delays. Furthermore, the margins should be quite good, as buying these components in bulk is much cheaper per part than just 10 idlers etc. So should be a win-win in theory (safe for shipping troubles).

Looking forward for the plates

Let’s see what Ryan and I can make happen. Maybe it’s a total bust in the end. One never knows.

@tokoloshe I was looking for such a kit when ordering plates on your website. i have almost found everything via the affiliated links but not yet validated the amazon shopping cart. Let me know if you still would like to provide it.

I still have a doubt about upgrading the Primo reusing motors or reducing its size (i built a 1m x 1m version) keeping it for laser works and build a full sheet lowrider 4.

I have no urgency, let me know when or if you will have a kit to sell.

thanks a lot for your support!

Cristian

I disassembled my first Primo when building the LR3. When I noticed I had underpowered motors, I rebuilt the Primo with those as a Plotter (and potentially laser, but that never happened) with a smaller footprint.

It’s probably not going to happen until after a few months into the next year, there are still some things we have to figure out. At the moment it’s just tossing ideas at each other, nothing might come of it.

If it was going to happen it would not include any parts that are regarded electronics by the EU: steppers, power supply, cables and Jackpot because this entails so much legal hassle and fees I just can’t deal with as a small business.
