So I have been looking around for some 1in steel tubing for my lowrider2 build and I stumbled across some 1in hardened steel bar which is solid steel with no hole in the middle (not like a pipe or a tube). I was wondering if the motors would be strong enough for this solid steel or if I would need to find a steel tube?
Depends on the length of the shaft, but I think the inertia will be too big for the small motors. Or you can slow the accelerations down to get it working.
The table size is going to be 4ft x 8ft and I’m going to be using larger motors than on the website. They are 59Ncm(83.6oz.in).
Solid tube might sag under it’s own weight and actually be worse. Stepper power should not be an issue either way (other than accelerations will need to be lower no matter what).
