Snow in Florida!

I know to a lot of you this is nothing and a normal occurance. But for me, in my almost 41 years this is only the 3-4th time I have seen snow here, and by far the most I have ever seen stick. And we arent even half way though the amount of snow we are supposed to get. @CarmenJ is going to end up sick from going out to see it and back into the warm house so much

Will post more as things progress

Yes, I probably will but so worth it in my opinion. Not every day or winter in this case, that Florida gets an actual snow!

@CarmenJ Enjoy it! We live in a similar climate (except for the snow, because it’s summer all year round) and my beloved would camp out in that if it was to happen!

I just went out and stuck a tape measure in a few places just to see. Averaged 9" :snowflake: We were forecasted to get 1-3" and its still snowing for another 2 hrs or so 3 1/2 hrs. And supposed to be around 13°F for the low in the morning.

Geez, that’s crazy. Here in Pennsylvania we got about 4" on Sunday which is the most we’ve gotten so far this winter. It was 0°F here this morning but at least it wasn’t windy.

The bummer is if it’s that cold, the snow is probably too fluffy to make a snowman or have a snowball fight or build an igloo. I don’t suppose you have a sled. You could make some snow cream. My daughter is a big fan of that.

I typically don’t like the cold but y’all, I’m LOVING this snow! I wouldn’t want to deal with it yearly or anything but it certainly is something to behold!! Absolutely beautiful and I can’t stop hearing the ::Crunch:: of snow beneath my feet!

Can I just remind everyone, that despite travelling to most parts of the world, we actually haven’t seen snow fall.

I am starting to wonder if it’s real or if you’ve just used a spot of photoshop to convince me otherwise.

I’m a few miles west of Niagara Falls, and it’s pretty much the same here, about 3" of snow on the ground, cold and clear but not windy. If you’re proper dressed for it, it’s beautiful out there.

No thanks. You can keep that up there LOL.

Here I am in waaaaaaaay north WA state, and we just got our first freeze two nights ago. Still getting above freezing during the days.

I don’t think the snow went near as far south as you were. But up at this end of FL we broke records for snow fall today. As of 10 min ago my Son said its still snowing outside lol

It might keep coming. Apparently we’re supposed to get 39" out of the current system between today and tomorrow.

Hopefully it doesn’t exceed the fun threshold and start causing you guys problems.

So far all it did was shut down everything for today and tomorrow. Supposed to be sunny tomorrow but COLD. So they kept everything down. We went out to check things out around 3pm and got back home at 4:45 or so as it was getting dark and the road conditions were getting worse. Not much issue for my 4wd dually but other cars were starting to struggle. Thankfully there were very few people out and about.

I’m sure if we were still there I’d be dealing with a frozen heat pump again.

Woke up this morning to -20 F. Supposed to be a high of 28 tomorrow though. Only an inch or so of snow on the ground.

When I started my car this morning out front, it was -12F / (-24C). Only had about 6" of snow, but that is mostly because for much of the weekend it was pretty much too cold to snow. Typical Colorado, by noon it was 46F. So we had a 58F change in 4 hours.

Tires and driving technique are more important than AWD/4WD. When I was a young pup, I drove my Trans AM in the snow just like every other day of the year. Not a problem. Passed wrecked 4x4s all the time. These days I still put on winter tires for the winter, but do have a a 4x4 F150 and a pair of AWD Ford Escapes.

I drove around quite a bit in 2wd today. Only when it got to be more traffic did I switch to 4wd and that was just for piece of mind if someone else start to lose it. But thankfully other than a little fish tailing everyone was being safe and doing WAY under the speed limit. Other than having to roast to keep the window from fogging up it wasn’t bad at all.

We got about the same in South Louisiana, maybe a little more.

I’m in the UK right now, so I missed on the once in a lifetime snow event…

But I think it’s currently around 8ºF at home, which is about 15º lower than I’ve ever seen it.

Biggest snow event in Louisiana since 1895.
