Slots/Keyholes vs. Holes in Struts

I considered both of those ideas, but stuck with the standard, because it worked well for me as it was, and performance-wise, there didnt seem to be an advantage. One day I will re-do the struts, and then I’ll weigh my options again. I.am considering re-building to get a wider X axis at that time. I have the appropriate steel tubes already.

Sure… but I can’t actually see them. Well, maybe I can, but I am not really looking. Usually busy wiping the dust and chips off the X rails, but there is some on the struts too. (The last job I cut involved black foam, and it made a heck of a mess…)

I do care about the machine’s appeaeance, of course. The LR3 is a beautiful model, IMO.

Oh I get that. They can get dirty for sure! I haven’t ever messed with foam but I can imagine that getting everywhere lol. My response earlier was in no way meant to say you didn’t care about the look. Was just stating my thoughts is all. Just wanted to make sure I was clear on that.

I’ve drizzled epoxy into the captive nuts on th back strut and will be using more on the others I think…

I did that. Seemed to help some, but still can be issues

That is, assuming that there’s any left over after dealing with wandering grub screws…

Did the same with loctite (for every captive nut in the build) and now I wish I had printed the braces with all captive nuts since it made everything soooo much easier. Specially for the front panel if you don’t have the keyholes
