There’s a ton of threads discussing the differences (here is one…). I’m not an expert on the Jackpot/FluidNC, but I’ll try to summarize a few points…
- SKR runs Marlin, Jackpot runs FluidNC
- Marlin is primarily a 3D print language, adapted for CNC, while FluidNC was more designed for CNC natively
- SKR is more expensive, also requires an LCD (or addirtional ESP01S module, see below)
- Marlin is a bit more complex to change configuration (see below), but many parameters can be set using g-code.
- The g-code commands are a bit different for some functions between Marlin and FluidNC
Yes, it can be run wirelessly (headless), but yes, you need to add hardware (ESP01S). Jackpot (FluidNC) comes with the Wifi module as part of the package
I think at this point that @vicious1 hasn’t developed the screen housing yet, but he has promised to do so in the near future.
AFAIK, wiring is about the same complexity between boards
Depends - if you are already familiar with Marlin from 3D printing, then there isn’t a steep learning curve. Fluid/Jackpot does allow for changing the config much easier, as it is just editing a text file, rather than having to compile new firmware each time.
Many people prefer the Jackpot, although the SKR is also fine to use. Did you buy the board from V1E? If so, maybe you could contact Ryan and ask if you could exchange the boards…?
