I have run across a couple of things that I have questions on so I’ll start this thread with the two that I notice most often and they both have to do with the SKR Pro:
When I navigate on the touch screen to the move menu, I select my distance, i.e. 100mm and press the -X button. It moves 100mm in the -X direction but then I can not get it to move in any direction until I exit that screen and go back into it. Then I can move anywhere I want. Any ideas why this happens? Is there an update to the firmware that would fix that?
When I navigate to the print screen, even if I have short file names, they are truncated with something like a “bod__8.gcode”. There is plenty of real estate for it to display the full name. Is this something that could be fixed with a firmware update?
What machine are you using?
What firmware file did you flash your SKR board with?
Did it rename the file to .CUR when you were done?
What file did you flash the TFT screen with?
Can you post a picture of the menu screen please?
Mine is the MPCNC Primo. I bought the controller package from the shop with the firmware already loaded → SKR Pro1.2, 5x 2209 drivers, TFT35 E3 V3 -flashed- – V1 Engineering Inc
This is the file list in the print menu. For reference, the file names are “back.gcode”, “bracing.gcode”, “f_holes.gcode”, “holes.gcode”, “neck.gcode”.
The file name uses the 8.3 format that was common in the pre-Windows (DOS) era. If you’re not happy with that, you’ll need to talk to BTT/Biqu, but the limitation is probably related to system memory and architecture, so they’re unlikely to change it.
Yeah, I remember those days. But why would it take a 4(+4) character file name and strip off the 4th character of the actual name and then add “~2”? It’s only a minor inconvenience but it makes it so I have to be careful of file names so I don’t confuse myself.
