Skr 1.2 pro z probe

when i tell the skr 1.2 to probe to the the work piece it just raises the z axis 10 mm it does not attempt to probe

Exactly what G-code command are you using?

Also, is this for a Lowrider, or an MPCNC?

mpcnc primo idk to be honest with you the stock configuration i just hit the home bottom

Home and probe are not the same. You don’t home z on a primo, there is no endstop for it to hit.

Homing is very different than probing.

The information below is for the Lowrider. MPCNC may be different…

Homing will cause the Z axis to lift until it hits the switches, then it will lower it (about 10 mm), then lift until it again hits the switches. If the switches are already asserted (gantry is at the top), then it will first lower (about 10 mm), and then lift until it hits the switches. If the switches are wired incorrectly or otherwise open circuit, then it will lower (about 10 mm) and stay there. In all three cases, the Z location is set to Z = 200 mm

Probing, on the other hand, is the process where you lower the Z axis (after homing) to the top of the stock. The g-code is G38.2 Z0. The gantry will move lower until either the bit hits a metallic probe plate (completing a circuit), or the gantry travels to Z=0 (200mm from the homed position). As the Lowrider only has about 80mm of travel, this should never happen (assuming that you have properly homed first). Once the probe is complete (bit has touched the probe plate and movement has stopped), you need to set the Z location using the G92 Z0.5 (where 0.5 is the thickness of the V1E probe - use a different value for other thickness probes).

Direction of movement may or may not be different for an MPCNC, but I think that the commands and process is similar for both types of machines. But again, I only have a Lowrider, so YMMV…

On the cncjs program ters an option to probe wen i hit the probe settings it just raises 5mm
