Thought I’d share my simple table I just finished building for my new lowrider. Rather than decide on workable dimensions and build a table to match, I decided to focus on building the table I wanted to build and accepting the workable dimensions. The beauty of this build is you basically cut a bunch of 2x4s in half and then cut 4 legs to whatever height you want. I left an inch of exposed 2x4 for the wheels to ride along, and positioned the legs on the outside and towards the middle a bit to avoid being in the way of the wheels and to make the bottom shelf easier. Now I just need to decide on what will go underneath. Maybe a second lowrider? Haha.
I like seeing a Lowrider being built less than “full sheet” size. I think there are a lot of “big” MPCNC builders who would be better served by a “small” Lowrider.
You might consider some diagonal braces on the legs to stiffen it up. I think it might be a touch wobbly without. Probably not a problem for the Lowrider in use, but might be when putting stock on the table, etc.
I was originally planning some cross braces, but when I got this whole thing assembled there was surprisingly no racking, even while flipping it over to put wheels on it. But if the joints end up loosening up, I definitely plan on reinforcing it where necessary. I also might add some shelving down below, which would help to hold everything square. And yes I agree with you about the size. This is my first CNC and at first I was licking my chops at the idea of being able to work on a full sheet. But then I read some advice on this forum that helped me come around to the idea of just starting smaller and I can always upgrade the table later on. Thanks for checking this out!
