Silicon Lab CP210x error 10

Hello,
I finally did it, switched my “not really used” Burly to Primo (parts already printed for almost 3 years) and went Jackpot (bought last summer I guess).
No lack of interest at all, but time is really the problem.
So, everything is assembled and look working, I just have to understand how to stop Z going up when homing, I guess I have to deactivate Z endstop to use only Probe… at this point I don’t know how yet.
My major concern is about the firmware upgrade (not I’m not sure I have an old version, but…)
The board is not seen by my computer (I tried 3 differents, W10 and W11)
I read the Hamish Twaddle post , great, makes me know I was doing correctly, But I had to add myself the COM/LPT ports and it ends with “This device cannot start. (Code 10)”.
The weird thing is, few monthes ago I already did connect an ESP32 (nothing to do with Fluidnc nor MPCNC) to one of these computer and flash it, no issue at all… so easy I don’t remember how I did that

Any help is welcome

In the meantime I solved the probe/Z home issue… at least I read a case about this and understood how it works, now I can probe Z axys

To check your firmware, type $ss into the onscreen terminal. As long as it is not the first gen firmware you can actually update from the jackpot itself.

The webinstaller should work. When you plug in a USB it should make a “bing” sound if you are using windows. Then use the web installer. The largest issue we see by far is people using a charge only USB cable not a real USB cable.

Thank you Ryan for all the time you put, helped with others, on this project and the support.
I tried 4 different cables… before saying the trouble is somewhere else, I try a fifth one and guess what, it works. I feel a bit stupid.
If I remember correctly firmware is 3.7.18
At the time I write these line, Web connect is working ( but can’t read the actual version).
I launch a fresh install with last version and web ui3.
Actual message is "Waiting for controller restart… ", it’s 2:00 am, I’ll test more during the day.

If you only knew how many times that has happened, you would not feel bad about it at all. Most of my cables are legit but anyone else in the family, or any of the cables in the drawer of cable doom…charge only. I can not imagine they save more than a tiny fraction of a penny making charge only cable but they need to stop.

If you all elect me as your president, I promise to outlaw charge only USB Cables!

Thanks! I’m not particularly proud because troubleshooting has been the foundation of my job for decades (copiers/printers), and I’ve been a tech support specialist and trainer for 15 years, so… :disappointed:. I guess you tend to throw in the towel a bit faster when you’re outside your domain, especially when you know there are skilled people around you…
Anyway, that’s life! I’ll keep going… even if it means failing gracefully! :slightly_smiling_face:

You’ve got my vote.

That is a credible plan, always.
