Shrink fit makita/ makita clone collet

Has anyone tried a shrink fit 1/8 collet like what you would do in a full size machine?

I’ve never read the term “shrink fit collet” before. When I did a search, it showed ER collets. Apparently, it is a term that applies to collets that bind on the bit due to nut compression? If true, then the standard Makita collets are a form of shrink-fit collet.

If you want a Makita-like router that uses ER collets, then you have a couple of choices. You can use an adapter. Adapters cost you Z working space, and they are prone to introducing runout. Or you can buy a Makita clone that is setup for ER collets. Unfortunately, they cost much more. For example, Carbide 3D sells their base Makita clone for $80 and their ER collet model for $150.
