have to reset basic settings everytime i load estlcam
cnc and post settings stay as what ive changed them too ???
This sounds weird. Did you try reinstalling Estlcam?
not yet , thought id throw it out there 1st see if anyone else having same prob
Just install a newer version and see whether that fixes it? Takes two minutes.
C:\ProgramData\Estlcam\V12 should contain three setup files for the three Setup categories:
- Setup > Basic = ‘Settings CAM.txt’
- Setup > CNC Programs/PP = ‘Settings PP.txt’
- Setup > CNC Controller = ‘Settings CNC.txt’
All three files should be saved automatically every time Estlcam is shut down. If you shut Estlcam down and go to the V12 directory do those files exist and is the Modified date/time for those files current?.. If C:\ProgramData is not visible check File explorer > View > Hidden items.
If the Setup > Basic settings are not being saved, delete the ‘Settings CAM.txt’ file, start Estlcam, reconfigure, save all settings (see below) and restart. Estlcam should have rebuilt ‘Settings CAM.txt’ with your reconfigured settings. If for some reason it didn’t, try the restore all option. The last resort is to uninstall Estlcam, delete the v12 directory and reinstall (Estlcam not retaining settings - #24 by OHallifax).
V11 had dedicated ‘CNC Presets’, ‘Post Processors’, and ‘Tool Lists’ subdirectories (in C:\ProgramData\Estlcam\V11) for saving/opening multiple/different configuration files and tool lists. V12 has no such subdirectories and will default to the directory of the last opened drawing, project, etc.
A workaround is to create a C:\ProgramData\Estlcam\V12 subdirectory for saved files and pin it to Quick Access in File Explorer so that its easy to get to. A single directory works because all open/save/restore functions use files with different file extensions and only the applicable files, e.g. .tl tool lists, will be shown.
