Does the low rider come with a screen of some sort? If it does anyone have a video or screenshot of it? I see mention of using cheap tablets and then I read about Jason’s screen but seemed way over my head. Maybe it’ll make more sense once I get the cnc. But any info or redirects would be great.
No, the Lowrider kit does not come with a screen. If you get a Jackpot controller, you should probably just start out with the built in WebUI which you can access via a computer, tablet, or phone. There are a few pendant options but you don’t need one.
Thanks Jason. So web ui is using wifi to talk to my tablet? Also does mean there is a fluid nc app? Do I need a wifi internet signal?
Yes.
No, the WebUI is a web application served from the Jackpot.
By default, the Jackpot will create its own wifi network that you can connect to. This is called AP mode. You can also configure it to connect to your own wifi network. This is called STA mode.
I found the doc on it. So if I’m reading it right the jackpot has its own network and tablet computer etc log on to that. Am I correct so far? So when I connect , say with a tablet, that web site is showing me the fluid nc control panel?
Correct.
Thanks. That seems easy enough that I can even figure it out.
Mine has a screen.
but I’m not using a Jackpot controller.
The screen is or isn’t there for the electronics. If you use an SKR Pro, you could use the TFT35 screen. I use a Duet board, so I use a PanelDue TFT. (Not really necessary because the Duet has a web UI as well.)
A pendant or screen is nice to have, but with network connectivity and a network UI, it’s pretty convenient, even without.
You can save the web page on your Home Screen, that way it looks like an app (at least on IOS, android probably too)
Thanks
