Heffe you’re famous again! Not a direct link but hey, they spelled it right!
Hi, I’m Ben, and I’m 15 years old.
Wow.
Man I need to finally build my Zen Table so I can checkout this software more!
Congrats @jeffeb3
Smart kid. Ben has a great write up too. Very cool. Guessing he has supportive parent(s)/guardian(s)…
fwiw recently noticed Crunchlabs do Hack Pack subscription kits for teens/adults now, in addition to their kits for kids 8-13, including a Polar Sand Zen machine e.g. https://www.crunchlabs.com/products/sandy, mentioning since they have a sale and gifting holidays like Christmas/Hanukkah/Winter-Solstice/etc… are coming up.
Am going to baselessly claim Mark Rober’s Crunchlabs were partially inspired by Jeffe’s Sandify… One of the Crunchlabs guys stopped by at Open Sauce 2023, we chatted for a bit about the Zen XY that was on display, I recall him being mesmerized . Their polar Sand Garden looks like a neat cost effective intro for teens/adults to dip into the Sandify Zen space.
Okay, this is neat. And the Instructables is basically the idea I had in mind I teased in another topic. That’s crazy. I also started with the Etch a Sketch idea… Damn. And no, I am not telling you shit, ask Mike and Johnathan who know my idea in detail… But now I can “borrow” a lot of this build’s ideas…
I talked with the guy that designed the crunch labs sand table. I wanted to make an output for them. But we lost the thread. I should ping him again.
This table is great. Excellent display of the design decisions needed to make something like this and I like how unique the result is. I bet it would be really sharp with some baking soda.
