How critical, are the screw heads under gantry, should I counter sink? Kinda put lock tite on the nuts already, since I couldn’t find lock nuts at Home Depot …
Depends on how far your collet/bit sticks out, and how deep you need to cut. Gut reaction is not to worry about it, but be aware of it. If you find you’re always having to adjust things to keep from rubbing the screw heads on your stock, then maybe break the Loctite and countersink them. But if you can keep the plate far enough above your stock (and fixtures), don’t sweat it.
Mine is like that, so far so good.
Should be fine.
Hmm, since I’m using a different router might have to print a different holder for this… I didn’t drill the screw holes from the DeWalt pattern but this not looking to promising with the holder that came with router.
It’s pushed all the way back has some like plastic part on that is holding it back from going down all the way, on its holder, but thee base has a 2 part face plate I can take off and gain an extra 1/4 inch, this knob thing is really messing things up
With out the 1/4 inch face plate…
That’s just the basic dremel bit I had, I understand the router won’t go there , but trying to give reference of plate : collet .
If I shave off that nob that’s in there where you see the black marker I can go down another inch or so, but then the exhaust fan would Be right up on the Plastic plate. Don’t know if that would be a good thing.
Interesting with out the holder it came with , the whole shaft part of router fits through plate
I mean I use this router for other projects. So not to ruin the plate it comes with, I can use it as shown in first or second photo but then can’t use vac, or I got to design or remix to use vac part
Last photo with vac part
Collet sits flush
Hmm, seems this might be a makita knock off, found this on forum.
