1- Adding the roller mount will show you the edge the rails line up with is the outer edge.
2-Printing ease. Crappy printers in the early days lead to this. With out it people’s prints were so bad it was causing skewed assembly’s.
Like Ryan said in the other post, once you start putting things together it will make more sense.
With the skills you have designing, at the most you will lose a few hours and some filament.
Thanks. Just noticed your render on the Specifications page does actually run through to the end, my mistake. What confused me was this image:
Here it seemed there’s a notch sticking out on the left side, preventing the pipe to go all the way to the end. However, taking a closer look, it’s probably just the angle the photo was taken from.
Thanks, that makes a lot of sense. I was just curious. Great to see some “history” captured in this awesome design.
That picture is just the gantry sitting there, not in position. It does not actually matter though, the rail can be short or hang out. That “clamp” doesn’t really do much. That one drives me nuts when people over clamp and break the part it doesn’t do anything the rail can spin and move no big deal.
