I won’t be far ahead of you. Pretty small selections for Friday flights out of my airport

Yea, I have to drive down to Seattle. Otherwise it adds like 4 hours to the trip.

Oh man this would be fun. The rules are pretty strict so it will be a bloodbath of 3D printed parts!!! Anyone see a starter kit or anything to get the ball rolling or do you have to piecemeal everything. I get that for the hard core that is the way to go but I just wanna go break some stuff a couple times.

Shoot registration is almost already full, sorry to get everyone excited.

Bummer, don’t think I can get Gridfinity compatible CyberDumpster to fit within the 1lb 454g weight limit.

I really love this plastic concept - when guys start making very cool titanium weaponry integrated with motors (I’m looking at you Angus@MakersMuse) you have to start wondering whether hand grenades or even tiny nuclear weapons aren’t next, which would also be cool, but it’s the very definition of “arms race”.

Sadly, I did try to get there once again, but once again was foiled by small technical details requiring me to be in two places at one time. I’m currently checking the schedule for maker fests later in the year to see what chance there is.

Bummer, let me know if you find anything fun. Maybe I can make another trip.

You could use a pre machined 3D carve and run the gcode 0.2mm above the carve, this would highlight what these machines are capable of acheiving. Just set a zero reference point just off the edge of the carve with the tapered ballnose cutter, offset the z height to clear work piece and run the finish programme. Maybe change the steppover so it appears to be cutting at a faster rate. I have a really good last supper carving but Im not sure if its feasible to send from New Zealand.

run a red dot laser instead of a cutting router bit so the viewer can see it is going over the area and have the z move, but the laser just shows where it “would be” cutting if it were actually cutting. could run for hours and hours on an intricate carve. The air cut is a good idea.

I do like that idea! Might be able to pull that off.

Cut some V1E vinyl decals to hand out.

It’s happening!

We’re close to ProtoPasta, which is my favorite filament. And we’re close enough to the speeches that we might actually get to listen to some of them.

Wow, Wade has a booth this year. Ohh, we’re close to the bathrooms too, so lots of foot traffic!

I’m probably coming. I booked the Candlewood suites across the street for ~$300/ night. I’ll look later if there is a better deal

So, hypothecially… Not sure my work plans won’t interfere as I may need to be out of country. 50/50 at this point the week will work out for me.

If I show up, would any of these be of interest:

  • A small LR4 on a Ryobi portable bench?
  • A clone of @dkj4linux MPR&P system (possibly on a Ryobi portable bench)?
  • FluidDial pendants / kits to attach to other machines people bring?
