I’ll be there, of course, and I"ll bring some things. Should have some exciting new stuff this year now that the LR4 is complete and functioning.
The later date will also make it very likely that we won’t have to deal with snow this time…

seems like the rmrrf would set something up with the hotels. They are getting big enough, maybe they should get with them, say hey, i need a block of rooms, what can you do for us.
They do have deals with a few hotels. They used to have a deal with the hotel we all want but there is a graduation or something that same weekend. There is a conference center attached so must be a big group.
Anyone have any ides for what a LR can be doing at this show? Maybe just moving the whole time. We have done the drawings for so many shows now, there must be something a little more exciting without actually running a router?
If its going to be moving the whole time it may as well be drawing so the movement at least has a purpose. Maybe some new extremely detailed drawings? Or is it possible to take someone’s picture and have it draw that? IDK just throwing things out there lol.
How about some Ribbon Gymnastics on an IDEX?
Son Yeon Jae’s “Libertango” in Rio 2016 | Rhythmic Gymnastics | Music Monday
It might honestly show off its speed pretty well.
What if you milled a path for a ball in plywood and then used the same gcode but higher Z so the endmill pushed the ball through the path? If you made it a big squiggly loop, it could run continuously.
lol, a multi axis and/or IDEX LR4 frantically gymnastically swishing around some polyimide LED pcb ribbon would be pretty funny.
Would be neat to see the MPCNC actually milling, lasering, cutting, engraving things… IF not allowed to have inside at RMRRF, then, could maybe have an outside one setup (but that needs babysitting in unpredictable Denver weather that can experience all 4 seasons in one day)?
Millmage’s setup to custom draw on badges was neat, and memorable.
Thought I saw an enclosed CNC at Open Sauce 2024 actively cutting.
A water cooled setup like Professor Steve Potter’s could be quiet enough to not upset attendees/organizers. If you have similar space to last time, could prop up on a table set back and out of reach of curious little hands.
Closest hotel is very nice, but damn expensive, I can’t rationalize it, will probably find another one close by.
Yeah, same, just not seeing any with the easy amenities.
That is kinda slick. I like that idea.
Looks like “The Boot Grill” is open late those nights, https://thebootgrill.com/.
These three are directly across the street, seems like a good enough plan to me. Candlewood had the better price.
Candlewoods usually have an outdoor grill, so you could grill up if that suits your fancy. Otherwise, plenty of decent food near the hall.
If we used a dovetail bit, it could be a bit of a party trick where the ball is inserted in a single spot, and a smaller endmill is pushing it around, but it can’t come out
Or it could pick up a ball and place it at the top of a ball track.
I plan on attending. Live in denver so will be day tripping
Lucky!
I got a room and a plane ticket, so I should be there.
Arriving and setting up Friday morning (16th)?
Put a drag knife on it and cut vinyl stickers you can give away as an example one of the many toolheads that can be fitted.
Could be temporary or permanent adhesive or maybe even iron ons…
Or score/knife some thin fluted plastic to make a foldable kayak origami style… lots of options.
Friday afternoon / evening Should be there between 2 and 4. The only earlier flight had me waking up at like 1 am, no thanks.
That can be a lot of work when it is crowded, but I do have all the supplies for that.
Also lot of little fingers around.
