Rebuilding a table that I had running

So I build a table based on Johnny Devines design. I cant include links yet because my account is too new: /www.devinejohnny.com/projectgallery/kinetic-sand-table ←-fake it till you make it I guess.

I ran it on a Raspberry Pi and got everything working, I adapted his software to my hardware and all was great until I had a power surge at the house. Table died and I have just now started rebuilding it. I’ve gotten an esp32 and installed fluidnc on it and I can make the table move, but I’m having trouble getting gcode from sandify onto the table. I am using Universal Gcode Sender….my main issue so far is converting from gcode to thr data and then getting that to send at a usable rate. Do I need to limit UGS on the rate, or does fluidnc automatically wait until position A is complete before it moves to position B. I am a cut-and-paste programmer at best, so I’m not sure how to deal with this. Any advice would be great.

I got it up and running again via a new raspberry pi. (I had already replaced it once, but I guess the third times the charm).

How is the DIY slip ring working out?

I bought a premade slip ring and used that instead. His design looks like it will work, but I didn’t want to print one out and fuss with it.

Please upload any photos. I’d love to check out your build. I’ve been wanting to build one for some time now so it’s always good to see different designs.

I’ll see if it will let me upload some pictures.

Alright, that is the arm and the rotor assembly. I have all the electronics underneath.

The surface for the sand is a piece of glass that I got off the marketplace.

The lights are under this wooden ring that comes from the original table.

Here is the original table before I started modifying it. Also from the marketplace.

That looks awesome!

Thanks. The table itself started off looking pretty nice and I just tried not to make it too much worse.

I suppose this whole thread could be moved over to the my builds section.

Moved it for you
