Question on MG9C blocks and rails

Hi - just starting to print out the required parts here, but it’s not entirely clear what is required from the BOM

4 Rails 100mm
7 blocks (4 from above, plus 3 more)

Total is what I assume is required, 3 on xstageplate.stl and 4 on ystageplate.stl (which seems to have mounting holes for 6 blocks)

Is that correct?

Where did you find the 7 blocks? You need 2 per side.

X, the Core, runs on the rails and on bearings.

Disregard, this is the Compass… Man, this is so confusing… :stuck_out_tongue:

Yup, that’s correct. The yStagePlate has room for 6 mounting holes so that you could do a setup with only 3 bearings on the bottom if you wanted to. Something like this:

I haven’t tested that to see how much rigidity you lose with 3 bearings on the bottom, so I would recommend just going with 4.

Given the price - I’ll go with 4

I have most of the other mechanical parts from tearing down my old Railcore2 recently, sure I’ll be back in the next few days / weeks with electronics / sensor questions !

Thanks for the swift response, parts are on the way from AliX

I also have a related question: Are the rails screwed directly into the plastic?

Awesome! Stoked to hear

Yup, they are
