Question before building LR4

I was almost to the point of doing real work with my LR2 when I bought a house and the movers once again damaged it. So I was entertaining the idea of building an LR4 which is 2 generation level improvement. My first question is about the steel tubing which with the LR2 is 1". None of the LR4 variants use 1", correct? All new tubing would be needed, correct?

That is correct. LR4 doesn’t share sizing for the tubes with any previous machines.

Just to be clear, the 1" size is for 1" EMT only, as far as I’m aware.

Just a note on this. Normal 1" tubing is measured OD. Where 1" EMT is measured ID. So the outside of 1" EMT is 29.5mm not 25.4mm

Some other types of pipe are measured by ID, as well, while also having different wall thicknesses. I think specifying 1" EMT is the only option that’s definitive enough in that case.

1" EMT otherwise you’re sizing by OD and it needs to be 29.5mm or one of the other listed sizes etc.

I don’t disagree at all. My note was to the OP, not you. But I also didn’t realize I was on a several day old thread when I posted as well

Honestly, I thought I’d responded to that comment earlier today so I’m right there with you…

Yah. All my tubing is stainless steel 1" OD and 0.065" thick. I will probably just repair my LR2 and finish it as is. It has been a 5+ year project . Thank you everyone for your responses!
